Say Cheese!

They can hear you smile on the other side of the phone.

This is something that was taught to me during a customer service seminar many years ago.  I've implemented that practice ever since.  Attitude can come across in your tone.

So, it goes without saying, that while courts are operating with more Zoom/video and telephonic hearings lately as opposed to in-person events, I still dress for the part even if I'm only on the telephone.  In doing so, I feel more professional in my presentation, it reminds me that what I'm doing is serious, and it gets me in the right mindset.

Even though I may continue to attend out-of-court hearings during these unprecedented times, I won't be in my pajamas in front of the judge.  (Confession:  I *might* trade my heels for sandals!)

If you had a court hearing that’s being conducted over the phone or even via video, would you still dress as if you were going to be in an actual courtroom?
