The first stop for any visitor to Manchester-by-the-Sea has to be Singing Beach! This unique beach is named for the way the sand is said to “sing” while you walk across it. In the off-season, many dogs can be found at any given time lounging around the sand, playing in the water, and meeting other dogs. It is a spot of tranquility and beauty, and many Bostonians come during the warmer months to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life!

Located in the heart of Manchester is Masconomo Park, a beautiful grassy area that has plenty of benches for connecting with friends, a view of the harbor, and play areas for children to try the monkey bars, swing set, or baseball. There are sandwich stores and a delicious ice cream shop surrounding the park, perfectly arranged to grab a quick bite to eat before strolling around the park!

For the more adventurous folk, Frayed Knot Sailing Charters is a local company that offers a variety of services, from sailing lessons, to tours, to private parties. The business is family owned and operated, and they have lots of sailing expertise as well as a plethora of stories about the local area to keep you entertained while you watch a gorgeous sunset over the coastline!

Manchester-by-the-Sea is a great location to pick up a good book, cozy up on a couch, and watch the ocean. Fortunately, MBTS is home to the eclectic Manchester by the Book! Manchester by the Book has a selection of diverse, mostly used books that carry with them history almost as extensive as the words written in their pages. The book store has plenty of large comfy armchairs for avid readers to curl up with a book all day. Manchester by the Book is very charming, and a great place to stop by on a visit to Manchester!
