Seconds

This plant pictured here is my second office plant. I’ll admit it; I killed the first one. I didn’t understand what it needed and how frequently I should water it. This second plant is thriving.

This is my second career. I thought I would stay in banking forever. Eventually, I craved more education, freedom, and autonomy. I have that now. My second career is the perfect fit.

I’m starting to finally figure out that life is all about seconds - a second portion of a favorite dessert (yes, please!), second chances at finding a great job, a second stab at a project or paper that just doesn’t feel complete, and second paths that branch off of the main road you once thought you were stuck on. 

Perhaps a once amicable relationship with a co-parent/ex-partner has deviated into something less manageable. Maybe you started a new career path that has a pay structure completely different from your last gig and you need to go back to court for a second time to modify child support payments. I’m here to say that seconds happen. All. The. Time.

Be open to them. Face them with the courage that I know you have. Don’t give up on having that office plant! And, if you’re struggling, reach out to me.
